COVID-19 Lockdown Clogs Ports & Airports




The 21-day lockdown in force to curb the menace of Coronavirus, COVID-19, has led to a string of supply chain disruptions in India. Non-essential shipments have clogged ports and airports. While the Government has announced round-the-clock customs clearance till 30 June 2020, the fact is that agents or brokers are not turning up due to unavailability of logistics partners and transportation. One of the reasons being cited for the above problem is that transportation was permitted only for essential commodities, and so non-essential goods have clogged the whole system.
